Treating A Mid-Season Slump

Is your team in the middle of a mid-season slump? As sports continue to grow, now more than ever seasons feel as though they go on forever. Especially when the season isn’t playing out the way you had hoped. This can lead to what is called a mid-season slump.

Sports coaches can recognise a mid-season slump by observing the obvious symptoms that come with it. These include:

  • A drop in form either at training or in games
  • A lack of enthusiasm and energy
  • Lower attendance numbers at training
  • More than usual interesting excuses for not being able to attend training or games

If you have diagnosed your team as suffering from a mid-season slump, you need to act now. If this is left untreated, you risk:

  • Your players’ development going backwards
  • Your players losing their will to play out the season or quitting your sport altogether
