Pressured Five Star
Purpose of the Drill:
This drill helps players improve their ball-handling skills, decision making, and defensive coordination.
How it Works:
- Players start in the formation of a five point star.
- The points of the star should be set a comfortable passing distance apart.
- Two defenders start in the middle of the star.
- The attacking players start with the two balls.
- Attacking players pass the ball to any player on another cone, while the defending players attempt to intercept the ball.
- Once a player has passed the ball, they should follow their pass and move to the next cone.
- If a defending player intercepts the ball, the offending attacking player also becomes a defender.
- This continues until there are too many defenders to find a passing option.
Coaching Tips:
- Defenders need to work together for the best defensive effort. Coordinated defence will result in the most intercepts.
- As the number of defenders increase, attacking players need to act as decoys to free up other passing options.
